FULL ACCOUNT
On May 12, 2011, Amy Fry-Pitzen checked her six-year-old son Timmothy out of his Aurora, Illinois elementary school, telling staff there was a family emergency. Over the next two days, she drove Timmothy through several states, taking him to the Kalahari Waterpark in Wisconsin Dells and the Milwaukee Zoo, and stopping at various hotels. Surveillance footage shows the two together, Timmothy appearing happy and normal. On May 14, Amy's body was found in a Rockford, Illinois motel room — she had taken her own life. She left a note. It read: "Timmothy is somewhere safe with people who love him. You will never find him." Extensive searches of the route she had traveled found nothing. The waterparks and hotels were searched. In 2019, a teenager in Newport, Kentucky walked up to strangers claiming to be Timmothy Pitzen — but DNA testing quickly proved he was not. Timmothy Pitzen, if alive, would be approximately 19 years old. Wherever he is, he has not been seen since those surveillance cameras recorded him laughing at a waterpark eight days after he was last seen.
