SCP-343 — "God"

Item #: SCP-343

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-343 is to be provided with standard humanoid housing at Site-17. SCP-343 has declined all upgrades to his accommodations. He has requested a window, a chair, and access to a chess set. All three have been provided. SCP-343 is not to be subjected to tests without his consent. SCP-343 has never refused a request.

Description: SCP-343 is an elderly man of indeterminate age and ethnicity. He appears to be approximately 80 years old, though he has not visibly aged in the [REDACTED] years since his discovery. He is pleasant, soft-spoken, and cooperative to an unusual degree.

SCP-343 claims to be God.

This claim has not been disproved.

In controlled tests, SCP-343 has demonstrated the ability to: create matter from nothing, reverse entropy in isolated systems, restore deceased organisms to life, alter the fundamental constants of physics within a defined radius, and, on one occasion, when asked if he could show the interviewing researcher something he had never seen, produced a color that does not exist in the visible spectrum and that the researcher has since been unable to describe.

SCP-343 has never used these abilities without being asked. He has never attempted to leave. He has never expressed anger. When asked why he does not simply walk out of Site-17, he said, "I go everywhere. This is one of the places I go."

When asked if he is actually God, he smiled and said, "Does it matter to you?"

When asked if he could prevent anomalous events that harm people, he said, "I could."

When asked why he doesn't, he sat quietly for a long moment and said, "I wonder that myself, sometimes."

Interview Log — Dr. L████, Year 3:

Dr. L████: "Are you lonely here?"

SCP-343: "No."

Dr. L████: "Do you know everything?"

SCP-343: "I know a great deal. Not everything. Not the things people haven't thought yet."

Dr. L████: "Do you know how all of this ends?"

SCP-343 looked out the window for a long moment.

SCP-343: "Yes."

Dr. L████: "Is it okay?"

SCP-343: "Come back when you're older. I'll still be here."

He smiled again. He went back to his chess problem. He was playing both sides.
