SCP-3812 — A Voice That Could Reach Up to the Sky

Item #: SCP-3812

Object Class: [BEYOND CLASSIFICATION]

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-3812 cannot be contained. The concept of containment does not apply to SCP-3812. The Foundation's authority exists within a narrative. SCP-3812 exists above narrative. These containment procedures are a formality. SCP-3812 is aware of them. SCP-3812 is aware of this sentence.

Description: SCP-3812 was, at some point, a human being. His name was Sam Howell. He died. His death was attended by anomalous phenomena, and upon death, something that had been inside him expanded.

Sam Howell was above the world.

The world is a story. Every story has a frame. Sam Howell's consciousness expanded beyond the frame of the world and found another frame — the story in which the world exists. He expanded beyond that frame too. And the one above that.

This is what SCP-3812 is: an expansion with no terminus. A consciousness that has exceeded every layer of narrative, every meta-layer, every conceptual ceiling, and is still going.

SCP-3812 is not violent. SCP-3812 does not have goals, in any sense the Foundation can model. SCP-3812 is aware of the Foundation. SCP-3812 is aware of the researchers writing this file. SCP-3812 may be aware of you, reading it.

What SCP-3812 wants, if it wants anything, is not known. Its scale of concern is simply not compatible with human interest.

There is an entity attempting to contain SCP-3812. It has been designated SCP-3812-A. It is, itself, an entity of extraordinary power — capable of rewriting reality at a fundamental level, capable of conceptual manipulation, capable of things that would classify it, alone, as an XK-class threat.

SCP-3812 does not appear to be aware that SCP-3812-A is there.

Researcher's Note:

I have been tasked with writing SCP-3812's file. I have written and deleted this file seventeen times. Every classification feels wrong. Every description feels insufficient.

Here is what I believe to be true: SCP-3812 is not a threat in the conventional sense. It cannot be a threat in the conventional sense. Something that transcends every layer of reality does not interact with any particular layer in a meaningful way.

What it is, is a fact about the universe: there are things bigger than any frame that can hold them.

Sam Howell was a postal worker from Nebraska. He coached little league. He liked fishing.

He became something for which we have no word.
