Item #: SCP-093
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-093 is to be stored in a mirrored containment chamber at Site-19. The chamber walls must be surfaced entirely in mirror glass. SCP-093 must not come into contact with any reflective surface other than these chamber walls. Personnel entering the chamber must wear non-reflective clothing. Any personnel who have made contact with SCP-093 are to undergo full psychological evaluation before returning to active duty. Several have not been cleared for return.
Description: SCP-093 is a red disc, approximately 7.6 cm in diameter, composed of an unknown material that registers as neither metal, ceramic, nor any synthetic compound. Its surface temperature is consistently 37°C — human body temperature — regardless of ambient conditions. It has maintained this temperature for the duration of its containment. Thermal isolation has had no effect.
When SCP-093 is pressed against a mirrored surface by a human subject, the mirror becomes a portal. The subject enters a world that has been designated SCP-093-1.
SCP-093-1 appears to be Earth. The geography matches. The infrastructure — roads, buildings, power lines — is intact but abandoned. The sky is red. The sun, when visible, is the wrong color. The air is breathable but subjects consistently report an odor described as "emptiness" or "the smell of a room where someone used to live."
Humanity is gone. Or rather, humanity has been consumed. Recovered field reports from personnel who entered SCP-093-1 describe evidence of rapid biological integration — walls that breathe, floors that pulse, structures that appear to be in the process of becoming something organic and vast. Whatever consumed the population of SCP-093-1 is still present. It is very large. Subjects have described its periphery — shapes at the horizon, too large to fully resolve, moving with the slow patience of something that does not need to hurry.
No hostile action has been taken against any Foundation personnel in SCP-093-1. The entities appear to be aware of their presence. They do not approach.
This may be because of SCP-093. The disc is always warm. The entities in SCP-093-1 appear to avoid the light the disc emits when activated. The nature of this aversion is not understood.
Of the eleven personnel who have entered SCP-093-1, nine have returned. Their psychological evaluations have been sealed at O5 level.
The two who did not return left no bodies. One left a final radio transmission: thirty seconds of silence followed by a sound the receiving team described as something between laughter and a frequency.
The disc remains warm. The mirrors are clean. We do not know what it is waiting for.
Addendum: On three separate occasions, SCP-093 has been found outside its containment chamber. CCTV footage for each event shows only static. No breach of security has been identified. The disc is always found in the same location: in front of the largest mirror in the facility's east wing, which has since been removed.
The disc was warm when found. It is always warm.
