Username 666

The YouTube account with the username 666 is inaccessible to normal users. If you try to navigate to it directly, you're redirected to an error page or to the main YouTube homepage. The account appears to exist in the backend — it's referenced in comment threads from the mid-2000s, back when YouTube was new enough that simple usernames like 666 could still be registered — but the content is unreachable.

Some users have claimed to reach it through methods I won't detail here, since I can't verify them. What they describe consistently: a channel with videos that were not uploaded through any recognizable human process. The thumbnails are solid black. The video descriptions are empty. The view counts are in the billions — impossible numbers. The upload dates are wrong: years in the future, years before YouTube existed.

The videos, those who claim to have watched them say, are mostly static. Some contain audio. The audio is not language, or is language processed so heavily it no longer resembles it. Some contain brief visual segments: hallways, empty rooms, outdoor spaces at night filmed from extremely long distances. Nothing identifiable.

The last video in the list, they say, is different. It's approximately forty-five minutes long. The first forty-four minutes are static. In the final minute, the static clears.

The accounts of what appears in that final minute are inconsistent in their specifics but consistent in their effects. People who describe watching those final sixty seconds do not do so lightly. They don't describe it as frightening in the conventional sense. They describe feeling located — as though something became aware of precisely where they were, physically, in the world.

Several people who made these claims have deleted their accounts afterward. A few have not posted online since.

I have not tried to access the account. I'm writing this from what others have reported. I'll be honest: I'm writing it this way on purpose.

I'd rather describe someone else's experience with being located.
