FULL ACCOUNT
Over two consecutive nights in April 1977, three separate individuals in Dover, Massachusetts independently encountered a disturbing creature that became known as the Dover Demon. The witnesses had no prior knowledge of each other's sightings, yet their descriptions were remarkably consistent.
On the night of April 21, 1977, 17-year-old Bill Bartlett was driving through Dover when his headlights illuminated a small creature perched on a stone wall. He described it as having a large, round, watermelon-sized head with no facial features except two large glowing orange eyes; thin, spindly arms and legs; and pale, peach-colored skin with a rough texture. It stood approximately four feet tall.
Later that night, 15-year-old John Baxter was walking home when he encountered a similar creature in a wooded area. The following evening, 18-year-old Abby Brabham was a passenger in a car when she and the driver saw the same creature, though she described its eyes as glowing green rather than orange.
All three witnesses provided sketches that were consistent with each other. None had any apparent motive for fabrication, and all maintained their accounts into adulthood. Cryptozoologist Loren Coleman investigated the case and found it highly credible. The Dover Demon has never been identified and remains one of the most intriguing short-duration cryptid encounters on record.
