FULL ACCOUNT
Dennis Andrew Nilsen was a British civil servant and former police officer who murdered 15 young men between 1978 and 1983 in London. He lured vulnerable, often homeless young men to his homes at Melrose Avenue and Cranley Gardens, strangled or drowned them, and kept the bodies for extended periods before dismembering them. Nilsen was discovered in February 1983 when a plumber found human flesh blocking a drain at his Cranley Gardens property. He confessed voluntarily and was convicted of six murders and two attempted murders, receiving a life sentence. He died in prison in May 2018.
