FULL ACCOUNT
The Snowtown murders, also known as the Bodies-in-Barrels murders, were committed by John Bunting, Robert Wagner, and James Vlassakis in South Australia between 1992 and 1999, with 11 confirmed victims. Bunting, the ringleader, harbored extreme hatred of homosexuals, pedophiles, and those he deemed "welfare leeches," recruiting associates to torture and murder targets. The discovery came in 1999 when eight bodies in barrels of acid were found in a disused bank vault in Snowtown. Bunting and Wagner each received 11 life sentences; the case remains Australia's worst serial killing spree.
