FULL ACCOUNT
Luis Alfredo Garavito Cubillos, known as "La Bestia" (The Beast), is a Colombian serial killer who confessed to raping and murdering 147 young boys and adolescents, with authorities believing the actual number may exceed 300, making him potentially the world's most prolific convicted killer. He targeted children between 6 and 16 years old, often homeless or from rural areas, luring them with money or gifts before torturing, raping, and killing them. His crimes were discovered in 1997 when a skeleton was found, leading to a massive excavation. Garavito was arrested in 1999 and sentenced to 1,853 years in prison, though Colombian law caps sentences at 40 years.
