FULL ACCOUNT
The Cleveland Torso Murderer, also known as the Mad Butcher of Kingsbury Run, was an unidentified serial killer who dismembered at least 12 victims in Cleveland, Ohio, between 1934 and 1938. Most victims were decapitated, and most were never identified; bodies were found scattered across the city's poorest neighborhoods and rail yards. The legendary lawman Eliot Ness led the investigation, eventually burning down the hobo shantytown of Kingsbury Run in a controversial effort to pressure the killer. A suspect, Frank Dolezal, was arrested and died suspiciously in jail in 1939, but the case was never officially solved.
