FULL ACCOUNT
In the early morning hours of June 3, 2011, 20-year-old Indiana University student Lauren Spierer was last captured on surveillance cameras in downtown Bloomington, Indiana at approximately 4:30 AM. She was barefoot — she had lost her shoes at some point during the night — and appeared visibly intoxicated after a night out with friends. Witnesses and cameras tracked her to a certain point, and then she was simply gone. Her friends' accounts of the night were inconsistent. No camera captured her after that final frame. No body, no remains, no clothing, no cell phone, and no credible confirmed sightings have ever been found. Several individuals who were with her that night invoked the Fifth Amendment when questioned by investigators. Despite one of the largest social-media-driven searches at that time, and years of investigation, Lauren's fate remains unknown. Her family has continued to advocate for answers and pushed for legislation around reporting missing adults. Lauren Spierer has never been found.
