FULL ACCOUNT
In the months before her disappearance, Dorothy Jane Scott, a 32-year-old mother in Anaheim, California, received a series of disturbing phone calls from a man who told her he had been watching her, that he loved her, and that one day he would cut her up into pieces so no one could have her. She reported the calls to police, who could not trace them. On the night of May 28, 1980, Dorothy drove a sick coworker to the UC Irvine Medical Center emergency room. After dropping him off at the entrance, she briefly stepped away from the car — possibly to move it from the emergency zone — and vanished. Her car was found later that night, burning in an alley blocks from the hospital. After she disappeared, the mystery caller began contacting her family and the local newspaper, describing details of her death that had not been made public. He claimed he had killed her and told them where to look. Dorothy's skeletal remains were found in 1984 near some Santa Ana Canyon Road construction. Her killer was never identified. The phone calls stopped after her remains were discovered.
