FULL ACCOUNT
Beginning in November 1987, a Gulf Breeze, Florida resident named Ed Walters began photographing and filming what he described as a blue-beamed UFO that repeatedly appeared near his home. The photographs became some of the most widely analyzed and debated UFO images of the decade.
Walters reported multiple close encounters including being lifted from the ground by a beam of blue light and receiving telepathic communications. He documented the encounters extensively, eventually publishing a book with his photographic evidence.
The case attracted intense scrutiny. A team of experts analyzed the photographs and found no evidence of hoaxing, while later investigations uncovered a small model that may or may not have been the source of the images. The Gulf Breeze area became a hotspot with additional residents reporting sightings.
The case divided UFO researchers sharply between those who considered the photographic evidence compelling and those who suspected an elaborate hoax. Ed Walters maintained his account was truthful until his death, and the question of authenticity has never been definitively resolved.
