FULL ACCOUNT
The RMS Queen Mary, now permanently docked as a hotel in Long Beach, California, has been the site of paranormal reports since her retirement from active service in 1967. During her operational years from 1936 to 1967, she transported troops in World War II and is estimated to have been involved in the deaths of hundreds of people. The most frequently documented entity is a young girl named Jackie who is heard splashing near the first-class pool, which was drained decades ago. The pool changing rooms are considered particularly active. John Henry, a sailor who was crushed by a watertight door in the engine room, is also regularly reported. The ship's bow holds the site of a wartime tragedy in which the Queen Mary accidentally sliced her escort vessel HMS Curacao in half, resulting in the deaths of 338 men. Distress sounds and screaming have been reported near the bow. During the 1980s and 1990s, the hotel actively documented paranormal reports from guests and staff. Independent investigators have captured anomalous audio recordings, observed objects move, and documented full-body apparitions in the engine room and forward cargo hold. The Queen Mary now offers dedicated ghost tours and overnight paranormal investigation packages.
