Samuel Little, who died in prison in December 2020, confessed to 93 murders committed across the United States between 1970 and 2005, making him the most prolific convicted serial killer in American history according to the FBI. He targeted vulnerable women, often those involved in drug use or prostitution, strangling them with his bare hands. His crimes went largely undetected for decades because his victims were from marginalized communities and many deaths were ruled as overdoses or accidents. The FBI has confirmed at least 60 of his confessions and continues to work to identify additional victims.
