FULL ACCOUNT
Beginning in 2010, skeletal remains of at least 10 victims were discovered along Ocean Parkway on Gilgo Beach and nearby areas of Long Island, New York. Most identified victims were sex workers who had advertised online, and the manner of disposal suggested a practiced, organized killer. In July 2023, Rex Heuermann, a Manhattan architect, was arrested and charged with four of the Gilgo Beach murders following a years-long covert investigation. Additional charges were added in 2024. The investigation is ongoing, some victims remain unidentified, and the full scope of the killings has not been established.
