Item #: SCP-076
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-076-1 is to be kept in a reinforced containment chamber at Site-██. The chamber is to be constructed of lead-lined concrete no less than 3 meters thick on all surfaces, including floor and ceiling. All personnel assigned to SCP-076-1 containment must be armed at all times. A minimum of twelve (12) armed security personnel must be present within the containment area whenever SCP-076-2 is active.
In the event that SCP-076-2 breaches the inner chamber, Site-██ is to be placed under immediate lockdown. Lethal force is authorized against SCP-076-2. Personnel are reminded that lethal force will not permanently terminate SCP-076-2 but will delay its activity and provide time for recontainment.
Do not speak to SCP-076-2. Do not make eye contact with SCP-076-2 for longer than three seconds. Do not, under any circumstances, express admiration of SCP-076-2's abilities in its presence.
Description: SCP-076-1 is a black granite cube, approximately 3 meters on each side, with cuneiform script covering all external surfaces. The script does not match any known ancient language, though it bears structural similarities to early Proto-Sumerian administrative records. The interior of SCP-076-1 contains a stone sarcophagus, sealed with granite bands and further sealed with iron bands added by the Foundation following initial recovery. The interior of the sarcophagus contains a void approximately the size and shape of a human adult male.
SCP-076-2 is the entity that inhabits SCP-076-1. When dormant, SCP-076-2 is entirely contained within the sarcophagus, which seals itself without external intervention. SCP-076-2 cannot be permanently killed. Following termination by any means, SCP-076-2 reconstitutes within SCP-076-1 over a period ranging from three hours to four days, dependent on the severity of the physical trauma.
SCP-076-2 appears as a human male of approximately 25 years, 1.9 meters tall, with dark hair and grey eyes. It has demonstrated extraordinary physical capabilities: speed, strength, and resistance to injury significantly beyond human norms. Its primary weapons are bladed instruments it produces from an unknown source — the blades appear in its hands without apparent retrieval from any carried location.
SCP-076-2 has killed twenty-three (23) Foundation personnel since initial recovery. It has been terminated eleven (11) times. It has reconstituted eleven (11) times.
Addendum 076-A: Behavioral Notes
SCP-076-2, when active and not engaged in violence, is capable of speech and demonstrates a consistent personality characterized by contempt for weakness, appreciation for combat effectiveness, and a specific emotional state that Foundation psychologists have categorized as profound boredom. It cooperates with the Foundation's Mobile Task Force research program under conditions that remain classified at Level 4/076. It has, during periods of voluntary cooperation, provided tactical information about hostile anomalous entities that has been operationally useful.
It does not do this out of loyalty or alignment with Foundation goals. When asked why it cooperates, it has given the same answer on three separate occasions:
"There are things out there worth killing. You find them. I kill them. That is the arrangement."
Addendum 076-B: Note from Researcher ██████████
SCP-076-2 asked me today what year it is. I told it. It was quiet for a long time. Then it said: "That many years. And it still hasn't come."
I asked what it was waiting for. It looked at me with an expression I didn't know how to read and said: "The only thing that has ever been worth waiting for."
It then returned to its sarcophagus and sealed itself inside.
I don't know what it is waiting for. I am not certain I want to.
