SCP-682 — Hard-to-Destroy Reptile

Item #: SCP-682
Object Class: Keter

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-682 is to be contained in a 5m x 5m x 5m chamber filled with hydrochloric acid solution. The acid must be maintained at a concentration sufficient to cause ongoing tissue damage. SCP-682 regenerates. The acid slows it. Personnel are not to enter the chamber under any circumstances. All interaction is conducted remotely.

Description: SCP-682 is a large reptilian creature of indeterminate origin. Its size varies, as it can regenerate mass. Its base form is quadrupedal, covered in irregular plates and protrusions, with features consistent with no known species. It is highly intelligent and communicates in multiple languages, though it rarely chooses to do so and almost exclusively uses communication to express hostility toward its containment staff.

SCP-682 regenerates from virtually any injury. More critically, it adapts. When an attack is used against SCP-682 a second time, the attack is less effective. When used a third time, it may have no effect at all. SCP-682 has survived ██ termination attempts. It has survived exposure to temperatures sufficient to vaporize steel, forces sufficient to liquefy its structure, biological agents engineered specifically for it, and direct interaction with other SCP objects deployed as weapons.

Following each failed termination attempt, SCP-682 is returned to its acid bath and containment is re-established.

SCP-682 has expressed, in direct communication with Foundation staff, a comprehensive hatred of all life. It refers to living things as "disgusting." It appears to find its own existence offensive. When asked why it fights so hard to survive despite hating life, it has said, in variation:

"I will not give you the satisfaction."

Cross-Testing Log: Foundation personnel have proposed cross-testing SCP-682 with various other contained anomalies as termination attempts. Most proposals have been rejected. Those approved are documented in Log 682-XT. Results have been universally either inconclusive or have complicated containment of both objects.

The termination problem remains open. The Foundation does not expect to resolve it.
