FULL ACCOUNT
Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka were a married Canadian couple who raped and murdered three young women, including Homolka's own 15-year-old sister, in Ontario between 1990 and 1992. The pair recorded their crimes on videotape, evidence that was hidden for years as part of Homolka's plea deal. Bernardo was also linked by DNA to a series of rapes as the "Scarborough Rapist" with over 14 victims in the late 1980s. Bernardo received a life sentence in 1995; Homolka, who had negotiated a 12-year manslaughter deal before the tapes surfaced, was controversially released in 2005. Bernardo remains incarcerated.
