The Death of Jeffrey Epstein

Jeffrey Epstein, a wealthy financier who had previously been convicted of soliciting prostitution from a minor in 2008, was arrested in July 2019 on federal sex trafficking charges. He was found dead in his cell at Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York on August 10, 2019, in an apparent suicide by hanging. The New York City medical examiner ruled his death a suicide, but this conclusion has been contested by independent forensic pathologist Dr. Michael Baden, hired by Epstein's family. The failure of jail staff to monitor Epstein and the mysterious deaths of two guards remain subjects of active Congressional inquiry and public suspicion.
