FULL ACCOUNT
Dennis Rader, known as BTK (Bind, Torture, Kill), murdered ten people in and around Wichita, Kansas, between 1974 and 1991, then went dormant for over a decade before resuming contact with police and media. He worked as a church council president and compliance officer during his killing years, maintaining an outwardly normal life. Rader was identified after a floppy disk he sent to police was traced to a local church computer. He was arrested in February 2005, pleaded guilty to all ten murders, and was sentenced to ten consecutive life terms, as Kansas had no death penalty.
