FULL ACCOUNT
Robert Hansen was an Alaskan baker and avid hunter who abducted, raped, and murdered between 17 and 21 women in and around Anchorage between 1971 and 1983. His signature method was to fly victims in his small private plane to the remote Alaskan wilderness, release them, and hunt them like animals before killing them. Hansen was caught when a victim escaped and led police to him; he was convicted of four murders in 1984 but confessed to 17 in a plea deal that allowed investigators to locate additional remains. He died in custody of natural causes in 2014.
